It was 1939, and the dawn of WWII. The British blockade was effectively blocking imported goods from Europe, including all glass Christmas ornaments, which had been made in Germany up to that time. As the Christmas season was approaching, American wholesale companies specializing in Christmas decor began to grow worried...how would they meet the expected demand for more than 250 million handmade ornaments?
In the quiet little town of Wellsboro, nestled in the mountain of northern Pennsylvania was a factory which would rise to the challenge, save Christmas, and turn Wellsboro into the "Glass Christmas Ornament Capital of the World...."
